Eli is a passionate advocate for credit unions. “People helping people” is a phrase that, in 1997, captivated his mind and heart, and convinced him to become involved in the credit union movement. He came to the U.S. at two years of age, with his mother and no belongings other than what fit in a few suitcases. Through hard work, access to education, and personal discipline they survived hardships and eventually prospered. This would not have been possible without the help of many caring people and the support of generous organizations. It is this foundation that gives him a special appreciation for the credit union cooperative spirit. Eli formerly served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) and was actively involved in several industry advisory boards supporting credit unions and digital innovation. He also supports various organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and educational organizations and initiatives. Eli holds an MBA in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University.
